Jesus Calms The Storm

Jesus Calms The Storm

Jesus Calms The Storm is today's amazing story. It shows the Lord's power over winds and waves.

The event was so impressive that Matthew, Mark, and Luke wrote about it.

Let us read on to learn more.

Jesus calms the storm introduction

This story began one evening after Jesus had finished a long day of teaching.

He got into a boat with His disciples in order to cross over to the other side of the lake.

Jesus had been busy all day, teaching people about God.

He was very tired, so He lay down and went to sleep.

A storm arose on the lake

The wind began to blow and the waves got bigger and bigger.

The little boat bobbed up and down.

Jesus’ disciples became scared.

The disciples began to yell!

“Jesus wake up. Help us! The waves are too big, and we are not safe,” they said.

Jesus awoke and spoke to the storm

Finally, Jesus awoke!

He stood up in the boat and said,

“Wind and waves be still!”

There was an instant change!

The wind stopped raging!

The waves stopped tossing the boat around!

The disciples were amazed

Jesus’ disciples were extremely amazed!

“Jesus can even tell the storm to stop. Only God can do that!” they said.

This miracle helped them to believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

Jesus calms the storm meaning

Sometimes everyone has storms or difficult times in his or her life.

These can include things like exams at school, difficult subjects,  family problems, times of ill health, and more.

However, Jesus is with those who love Him and who obey His Word.

Like the disciples, we can call on the Lord for help.

This means that we can tell Him the problem and ask for His assistance.

The disciples knew that they were safe with Jesus.  He has all power over everything!

We can trust the Lord Jesus because He said that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13 5).

The Bible also says, “When I am afraid I will trust in you”  (Psalm 56: 3).

We encourage you to trust the Lord for help and not to be afraid.

Jesus calms the storm bible verses - Mark 4: 35 - 41 ESV

35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”

36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him.

37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling.

38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”

39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”

41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer is one of the best-known teachings of Jesus. Lord Jesus gave us the secret for praying to our Heavenly Father.

I encourage everyone reading this post to learn this prayer.

 The Lord's Prayer KJV Matthew 6: 9 - 15

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Secrets Of Giving And Praying

Secrets Of Giving And Praying

Secrets Of Giving And Praying are among the most important teachings of Jesus.  The Lord was on a mountain  when He taught His disciples these important secrets.

The main lesson is that God wants His children to have a secret life of giving and praying, because He wants to reward these openly.

Jesus said that we must give charitable donations in secret

Jesus began by warning His disciples not to display their righteousness just to be seen by people. Jesus said that their Father in Heaven would not reward them for showing off.

For example, Jesus told His disciples not to blow a trumpet to alert others whenever they gave charitable gifts to others.

This is what the hypocrites did in synagogues and on streets so that people will praise them.

Jesus said that they have their reward.

Jesus told His disciples to do their charitable giving in a private manner:

‘But when you do your giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing."

Jesus said they must give gifts secretly in order to be rewarded by their Heavenly Father

"… so that your gift may be in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you."

Do not show off publicly when you pray to God

There were some people in Jesus' day who loved to show off as they prayed. They would stand in the synagogues and on street corners as they prayed loudly.

They did so in order to be seen and commended by other people. Jesus said that they have a reward for being hypocrites:

‘Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward."

Pray secretly in your room

Jesus said that His disciples must not pray publicly in order to show off. Instead, they must pray privately in their  rooms or in a private place.

God would openly reward those who pray to Him  without making a show of it:

‘But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

Do not babble and repeat words over and over when you pray

Jesus said that God does not want His children to babble like babies and repeat words over and over when we pray.

Instead, God wants us to tell Him exactly what we need, so we can get directly to the point

‘When you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles, because they think that by their many words they will be heard. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So pray this way:

Conclusion to Secrets Of Giving And Praying

The main lesson is that God lives in Heaven. We cannot see Him with our physical eyes.

Therefore, God is in secret in a sense.

He wants His children to give to Him and to pray to Him in private. He does not want us to give and to pray in order to show off publicly.

People who give and pray in order to show off publicly have a special reward reserved for them. On the other hand, those who give and pray in private in order to please God only will also receive His special reward.

Praying in secret does not mean that you cannot pray loudly to God. It just means that we are not doing it to be seen and praised by others.

Praying in secret does not mean that we cannot pray with others. This is another prayer called the prayer of agreement or corporate prayer.

One example is in Acts 2 preceding the Day of Pentecost.

God wants everyone of His children to have a secret prayer life that He will reward openly.

Secrets Of Giving And Praying KJV Matthew 6: 1 - 8

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Jesus Healed A Man With A Withered Hand

Jesus Healed A Man With A Withered Hand

Today's exciting story shares how Jesus healed a man with a withered hand. This was  a very exciting and amazing miracle. However, it angered Jesus' enemies because  He performed the miracle on the Sabbath day.

According to the  Law of Moses, no one should work on the Sabbath day.  The scribes and Pharisees  always became angry because they believed that miracles were deeds of work.

They were very strict about not working on the Sabbath. Therefore, they believed that Jesus sinned against God by working miracles on this day of rest.

Jesus saw a man with a withered hand one Sabbath

One Sabbath day, Jesus went to the Synagogue. He saw a man with a hand that had never grown. It was small and withered and he couldn’t use it

Jesus felt compassion for the man and wanted to heal him. Suspecting what the Lord was about to do, His enemies watched to see if He would heal the man on the Sabbath day.

Jesus told the man with the withered hand to  get up and come forward!

The Lord  then spoke to His enemies because He  knew what they were thinking. He asked a  question,

“Does the Law of Moses say to do good, or evil, on Sabbath days?”

However, they never answered, because Moses’ Law says to do good on the Sabbath.

Jesus was angry with the Pharisees, because they didn’t care at all about the poor man.

But Jesus cared! He told the man to stand where everyone could see him.

“Stretch out your hand,” Jesus said to the man.

The man obeyed and stretched out his hand.

There, in front of everyone in the Synagogue (including the Pharisees) a miracle took place!

Right in front of his own eyes, the man watched his hand grow and become a normal hand!

It was a miracle!

He was so happy!

The Pharisees became enraged!

They went straight out to meet with a group of people called the Herodians.

They were also leaders who didn't like people following Jesus.

Both groups wanted to make a plan to get rid of the Lord.

Jesus healed a man with a withered hand explained

This beautiful story shows us Jesus cares about people.  The Lord volunteered to heal the man because He knew that the man longed to have a normal hand.

Once he was healed, the man could carry out activities that everyone else with normal hands took for granted.

God is always so good  and kind.

Jesus healed a man with a withered hand Mark 3 1 - 6

1
He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered.

2
They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.

3
He said to the man with the withered hand, ``Get up and come forward!"

4
And He said to them, ``Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent.

5
After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, ``Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

6
The Pharisees went out and immediately began conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.
