✨ Jesus' Parable About How Seeds Grow 🌱

Introduction To Jesus' Parable About How Seeds Grow

Jesus used parables or puzzles to explain truths about the Kingdom of Heaven. In order to understand the parables, we need to solve the clues.  In today's parable, Jesus talked about how seeds grow.

Here is Jesus' parable about how seeds grow from Mark 4: 26 - 29:

26 “The kingdom of God is like this,” he said. “A man scatters seed on the ground.

27 He sleeps and rises night and day; the seed sprouts and grows, although he doesn’t know how.

28 The soil produces a crop by itself—first the blade, then the head, and then the full grain on the head.

29 As soon as the crop is ready, he sends for the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Jesus' Parable About How Seeds Grow For Children

Jesus told a parable about a farmer who went out to plant tiny seeds in his field. He sprinkled them all over the soft, brown soil. Then, every night, he’d go to sleep, and every morning, he’d wake up—just like you!

But here’s the cool part: While the farmer was busy sleeping, eating, or playing with his dog, something amazing happened!

The seeds secretly began to grow.

First, little green shoots popped up like tiny wands. ..

Then the shoots grew taller and turned into strong stalks...

Finally, plump, golden grains appeared, shining like sunshine!

The farmer didn’t know *how* it happened—it was the soil’s secret superpower!

One day, the farmer looked at his field and gasped. “Wow! The grains are all golden and ready!”

So he grabbed his basket and raced out to gather them. It was harvest time—the best day ever!

Jesus Told Us About 🌽 The Amazing Journey Of A Corn Kernel! 🌱

Let’s follow a tiny corn kernel’s adventure as it grows into a tall, golden plant—just like Jesus told us!

1. Planting Time! 🌱

A farmer tucks the kernel into cozy, damp soil (like a seed sleeping in a blanket!).

It takes 1–2 weeks for the seed of corn to begin to grow. The corn needs water and sunshine to grow.

The soil drinks rain or sprinkles from a watering can and warm sunshine seeps into the ground to wake up the kernel.

2. Sprouting & Growing Up! 🌿 → 🌽**

First there is a baby blade:  A green shoot pops up, waving “Hello!” to the sun.

After that strong stalks appear: The plant grows TALL (as high as your dad’s knees… then your head… then even taller!).

Then Hello, Ears!: Tiny “hair” (tassels) grows on top, and bumpy green ears form on the stalk.

All of this takes place in 2 to 3 months. The plant soaks up sunshine to make its food, while rain and nutrients from the soil keeps it strong.

3. Golden & Ready! 🌞

Finally, the green ears turn brown and crispy. Inside, the kernels plump up, turning shiny and golden.

It takes three to four months for the corn to grow up fully.

Fun Summary:

1.  Plant the corn (it's snug in the soil!) →

2.  The corn sprouts & grows (hello, sunshine!) →

3.  The corn ripens (ta-da, it’s CORN!).

🌟  (P.S. Want to see it yourself? Try planting a kernel in a cup with soil and water!)* 🥤🌱

What Is The Meaning Of Jesus' Parable About How Seeds Grow?

The seed is the Word of God

When Jesus talked in Mark 4 about "seed," He was referring to the Word of God. Therefore the farmer was like a preacher who planted the Word of God in the hearing of others.

Anyone can tell others about the Bible, even though you are a small child. As you see in the parable, all you need to do is to plant the seed and God will take care of the rest.

Here Are  4️⃣ Ways To Plant The Seed Of God's Word

1. Share bible stories with your friends.

2. Share bible songs with them.

3. Share a bible encouragement when your friends need help.

4. Pray with friends when they are sick, sad or need help with a problem.

It takes time for the Word of God to produce results in the lives of others. We see that with the grain of corn.

It has to go through stages:

  • it has to be planted in the ground
  • it produces a blade
  • then the head of young corn
  • then the full grain
The seed does not become a full head of corn overnight. In the same way, we need to be patient with others as we share the Word of God with them.

As they listen  to the Word of God, believe and obey it, they will change and produce fruit like patience, kindness and love.
