Jesus Taught Us Not To Worry
Jesus taught us that we are not to worry because we are the children of our Heavenly Father. He told His disciples not to worry about food, drink and clothing in our daily lives.
He said that there are things in life that are more important than food, clothes and drink.
Jesus talked about how God takes care of the birds of the air
He explained that they do not work. They do not plant seeds or reap any harvest.
They do not work to store food away in barns, Jesus said.
They don't plant seeds.
They don't reap any crops.
They don't store food away in barns
Yet Your heavenly Father feeds them, Jesus exclaimed.
He continued with a question, "aren't you not much more valuable than they?’
So why do you worry about clothes! Jesus exclaimed.
Jesus talked next about how God takes care of the flowers
Jesus pointed out the flowers. He said to His disciples, "see how the flowers of the field grow? They do not labour or spin."
To the disciples' amazement, The Lord then compared the flowers to King Solomon. King Solomon was the third ruler of Israel. He was very rich and famous, and wore glamorous clothing.
The disciples' eyes must have popped open when Jesus said that although King Solomon dressed with great splendour, he was not more glamorous than the flowers.
Jesus concluded by commanding His disciples not to worry
Jesus commanded His disciples, including us, not to worry about food, drink or clothing. He said that we must not pursue these things as critical because our Father knows we need them.
"So do not worry, saying,
“What shall we eat?” or
“What shall we drink?”
or “What shall we
wear?” For the pagans
run after all these
things, and Your
heavenly Father knows
that you need them."
In fact, many people do anything possible to get food, drink and clothes. They do so without caring that they displease God to get these them.
Instead, Jesus said, we must:
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Jesus taught His disciples not to worry bible verses: Matthew 6: 25 - 34
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,
29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.
30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’
32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
