Zzz

The Night Owl God Created Poem

The Night Owl God Created

The Night Owl God Created.

A scientific (mostly) study in verse.

My eyes are large, distinct, and round,
The finest optics to be found.
While you stumble, trip, and stub your toe,
I see the world in a greenish glow.

(Seriously, who put that coffee table there?)

Rod Density: EXTREME

You have "cones" for color bright,
But I have "rods" to pierce the night.
My retina reflects the moon's soft beam,
Like high-beams on a laser team.

"Photons? I'll take 'em all, thanks."

TARGET LOCKED

My Creator built a hunter sleek,
With silent wings and sharpened beak.
I spot a mouse from miles away...
But honestly? I prefer soufflé.

(Or that leftover pizza on your counter.)

Z z

My vision rules the darkest hour,
I possess true nocturnal power.
But when the sun begins to rise?
Please, shut the drapes. It hurts my eyes.

Fun Fact: Owls cannot move their eyes within their sockets. That's why they have to turn their entire heads like adorable, feathery turrets.

Study Guide: Lessons From The Transfiguration of Jesus

Study Guide:  Lessons  From The Transfiguration of Jesus

Meta Description:

"Explore the biblical Transfiguration of Jesus. Review key concepts, vocabulary, and questions about Moses, Elijah, and the moment God the Father confirmed Jesus' divine sonship to Peter, James, and John."

Subject: Biblical Studies Topics:

  • The Miracle on the Mountain

  • Divine Revelation & Witnesses

  • God's Confirmation of Jesus

Study Guide: Lessons From The Transfiguration of Jesus

Summary:

Lessons  From The Transfiguration of Jesus study guide reviews the biblical account of the Transfiguration, a pivotal moment where Jesus revealed His divine glory to three of His disciples.

The guide covers the transformation of Jesus' appearance, the appearance of key Old Testament figures, Peter's reaction, and the direct confirmation of Jesus' sonship by God the Father. It emphasizes the command to listen to Jesus and the comfort He offered His fearful friends.

Key Concepts:

  • The Inner Circle: Jesus selected Peter, James, and John to accompany Him up the high mountain, establishing them as special witnesses to His glory.

  • Divine Transformation: The word "transfigured" describes how Jesus' appearance changed: His face shone as bright as the sun, and His clothes became white as light. This visual change revealed His divine nature and His appearance in Heaven.

  • The Law and The Prophets: The appearance of Moses and Elijah is significant. They spoke with Jesus about His decease in Jerusalem and the disciples could hear (Luke 9: 28-36)  Jesus had spoken to His disciples about that event, but now Peter, James and John heard about it from two witnesses with the information. This affirms that He came for the purpose of dying for the sins of the world.

  • The Father's Testimony: For the second time (the first being at Jesus' baptism), God the Father spoke from Heaven. He confirmed Jesus' identity stating, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased," and gave a clear command: "Hear ye him."

  • Fear and Comfort: The disciples' natural reaction to the voice of God was extreme fear. Jesus demonstrated His care by touching them and telling them to "Arise, and be not afraid."

Vocabulary List:

  • Transfigured: To have one's appearance transformed or changed; specifically used here to describe Jesus revealing His heavenly glory.

  • Tabernacle: A tent, booth, or temporary shelter. Peter suggested building three of these to honor Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.

  • Raiment: An older term for clothing or garments.

  • Elias: The Greek form of the name Elijah, a major prophet in the Old Testament.

Key Questions:

  • Why did Jesus take Peter, James, and John up the mountain apart from the others?

  • What specific details describe Jesus' appearance during the Transfiguration?

  • Who were the two visitors, and what is their significance in relation to Jesus?

  • How does God's command, "Hear ye him," apply to believers today?

  • Compare this event to Jesus' baptism. What is similar about God's message?

The Day God Told Three Disciples That Jesus Is The Son Of God

Meta Description:

Join Peter, James, and John on an amazing hike up a high mountain! Discover what happened when Jesus’ face shone like the sun and God told them Jesus is the Son of God.

Introduction

Have you ever been on a really long hike? Maybe you climbed a hill and saw an amazing view from the top.

In today's story, Jesus takes three of his best friends—Peter, James, and John—on a very special hiking trip. They went up a high mountain to be alone, but they ended up seeing something they would never forget!  This was a vision, like seeing a live movie.

By the end of the vision, God the Father told them that Jesus is His Son.

The Day God Told Three Disciples That Jesus Is The Son Of God 🌞

God told Peter, James and John that Jesus is His Son Bible Verses - Matthew 17: 1 - 8.

"And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them:

and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, 'Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.'

While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.'

And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

And Jesus came and touched them, and said, 'Arise, and be not afraid.'

And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only."

The Story: A Surprise on the Mountain

1. Jesus changed His appearance and was transfigured

When Peter, James and John reached the top of the mountain, something incredible happened. Jesus was transfigured right in front of them. That is a big word that means He changed his appearance!  The Lord wanted them to see how He looked in Heaven.

Here's what happened:

  • Jesus' face started to shine as bright as the sun.

  • His clothes became as white as light.

2. Two Surprise Visitors Came To See Jesus

Suddenly, the disciples weren't the only ones there with Jesus. Two famous men from the Bible, Moses and Elijah (Elias), appeared and started talking to Jesus.

3. Peter Had A Big Idea

Peter was so excited (and probably a little confused!) that he spoke up. He told Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here!" He suggested that they build three tabernacles (which are like tents or shelters)—one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

Of course, we know that Jesus did not want them to build any tabernacles. He just wanted them to share in the vision.

4. Jesus' Father Spoke From A Bright Cloud In The Sky

While Peter was still talking, a bright cloud covered them all. Then, a voice spoke right out of the cloud! It was Jesus' Father speaking. He said:

"This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him."

This is the second time that Jesus' Father spoke from Heaven to say that Jesus is His Son.

Learn more here.

5. "Don't Be Afraid"

When Peter, James, and John heard God's voice, they were very scared and fell down with their faces to the ground. But Jesus came over and touched them gently. He said, "Arise, and be not afraid."

When they finally looked up, Moses and Elijah were gone. They saw no one else, just Jesus only.

Six IMPORTANT lessons to learn from Jesus' transfiguration

1. We learned another time that Jesus is the Son of God.

2. Since Jesus is the Son of God, He has a Father in Heaven. Jesus talked about His Father many times during His life on earth.

3. Since Jesus is the Son of God, He also  carries the name God. Jesus is also God.

4. God repeated this information directly to three other witnesses to help everyone learning about Jesus to pay attention to this fact.  This is the reason that God repeated important information throughout the  the bible.

5. In addition to repeating information over and over again, God also shares it with different holy men and women of God and at different times so that many people can witness the truth.

6. God the Father told Peter, James and John to listen to everything Jesus said. He's saying the same to us today. Pay attention to what Jesus said about things related to the Kingdom of God. Do not believe anything that opposes Jesus' teachings.
