God Told John That Jesus Is The Son Of God

Introduction

In our previous story, we explored the baptism of Jesus at the River of Jordan. Today, we are going to focus on the message given by God that is - Jesus is the Son of God.

When Jesus was baptized, the Spirit of God descended from Heaven like a dove, and he heard a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

God Told John That Jesus Is The Son Of God Matthew 3: 13-17

"Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.

And John tried to prevent him, saying, 'I need to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me?'

But Jesus answered and said to him, 'Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for 1us to fulfill all righteousness.' Then he allowed him.

When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the h2eavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting upon him.

And suddenly, a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'"

This scripture tells us that Jesus is God

So, you see, Jesus got confirmation from God himself that he is the Son of God. So we know that Jesus is God. Now, there is one other scripture in which a voice came from heaven saying that Jesus is the Son of God, and that is when Jesus was in the Mount of Transfiguration

When Jesus went up there,  three of his disciples were with him. They also the voice, and saw Him talking to Moses and Elijah, who are prophets in heaven, who had gone to be with God already.

Peter, James and John, heard a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son. Hear him. I'm pleased with him."

John also heard the voice of God saying Jesus is the Son of God

So, you see, Jesus had witnesses to tell everyone else that He is the Son of God. Who else witnessed? Go back to the baptism. John saw the dove, and John likely heard the voice of God saying that Jesus is his beloved Son. So this is how we know that Jesus is the Son of God.

What is baptism?

Baptism means to be immersed in water, or to be dipped in water. It is a sign that people have repented of their sins and that they are obedient to God and living the way of God—they are going to follow God. Now, Jesus was not a sinner, but he sent later sent all his disciples to baptize people, and he set the example.

Anybody who's a follower of Jesus becomes baptized. But we must repent of our sins first, okay? To repent means to confess sins, tell God your sins, tell him you're sorry, and to turn away from doing sins. It doesn't make sense being baptized as a sinner and never repenting. See, baptism is about repentant people following Jesus and living righteously.

But remember the takeaway, the voice, the voice of God came from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I'm well pleased," and that tells us Jesus is the Son of God
