Introduction to King Nebuchadnezzar Saw the Son of God in the Fire
This morning, we're talking about the Son of God and how a king, way back in the days of Daniel the prophet, saw the Son of God in a fire. This incredible event happened about 500 or more years before the Son of God came to Earth to live among his people, preach, heal, teach, and die for our sins.
The Son of God is eternal; he has no beginning and he has no ending. He lives forever. He is always revealing himself to people, and here is the story of how he revealed himself to King Nebuchadnezzar.

The King and the Golden Image
King Nebuchadnezzar was a real king who lived in human history. He liked to fight wars and conquer nations. He had a kingdom and was ruling over it, and he called all his rulers together to worship a golden image that he had made.
He commanded them: "When you hear the music, fall down and worship my image".
However, three Israelite men—three Jews from the tribe of Judah—refused to bow down.
These men were Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
The people pointed them out to the king, and he became very angry.
Bound and Cast into the Furnace
King Nebuchadnezzar's anger was so great that he was "full of fury," and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
He commanded that the furnace of fire be heated seven times more than it was usually heated.
He commanded certain mighty men of valor in his army to bind the three men and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
The men were bound in their coats, trousers, turbans, and other garments.
Because the king's command was urgent and the furnace was exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed the men who threw them in.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
An Astonishing Sight
Then, something astonishing happened. King Nebuchadnezzar was amazed and rose in haste.
| Question | Answer |
| Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? | True, O king. |
The king then looked into the fire and declared:
"Look," he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God".
King Nebuchadnezzar saw the Son of God in the fire. This is the same eternal God who loves us, created us, and saves us, and with whom we will live forever if we believe in him for salvation.
There is no other god who lives forever; the gods served by some people are dead and cannot show that they are eternal. Trust in the Son of God and believe in him.
