⏳ A Trip Through Time
Bethlehem isn't a new town. It has been important for thousands of years! Let's scroll through the history book of the Bible.
The Most Important Night Ever!
The biggest reason Bethlehem is famous is because it’s where Jesus was born. Mary and Joseph traveled there because Joseph’s family was originally from Bethlehem. There was no room at the inn, so Jesus was born in a humble stable.
🏘️ Bethlehem Today
It is a bustling town where people live, work, and go to school just like you. The people who live there today are called Palestinians.

Note: Some of the oldest Christian families in the world live here, but many have moved away. The majority of people today are Muslim.
🏛️ Manger Square
The center of town! You can see the Church of the Nativity (built over Jesus' birth spot) and the Mosque of Omar standing right across from each other.
⚖️ The Mayor Rule
Even though there are more Muslims than Christians now, there is a special rule: the Mayor must always be a Christian to honor the town's history!
🪵 Olive Wood Art
Local families are famous for carving beautiful things out of olive wood trees that grow on the hills. They make nativity scenes to share with the world.
